Current project status and goals

This workbench when completed will be approximately waist high, measure 32 inches deep by 72 inches wide, and provide ample space to work on.

I have currently four long-term aquarium goals:

  1. Successfully establish a desktop jellyfish tank in my office so I can admire the jellyfish while working.
  2. Successfully establish a marine reef tank in the house so I can admire the corals and fish in the living room, and show it off to guests.
  3. Successfully establish an aquaculture lab in the garage so I can optimally satisfy the nutritional requirements of the animals in the above tanks.
  4. Successfully establish a large octopus tank in the house so I can admire the innate intelligence and cleverness of these invertebrates.

So far I have an established Jellyfish Art Desktop tank, but the design of the tank had a slight flaw that makes the jellyfish vulnerable when shrinking. As a result of an ammonia spike during my learning process, the jellyfish were unfortunately shredded. I have fixed the problem myself, and I am going to try again as soon as I can secure a jellyfish source, since Jellyfish Art is currently out of stock. I am also considering purchasing an EON Jellyfish Tank from Sunset Marine Labs to compare the two.

I have also been constructing a lab bench to perform analytical work on the aquarium water, perform aquaculture growing Artemia nauplii and other animals to feed the jellyfish, and act as a filling station. Next steps include breeding the Artemia nauplii for the incoming jellyfish (along with corresponding SELCO enrichment and Nannochloropsis feeding), installing a reverse osmosis/deionization line from the kitchen into the garage, as well as purchasing a JBJ 28-gallon Nano-Cube LED tank to begin learning how to care for a reef tank (as well as familiarizing myself with overflow tanks, pumps, etc.).
